The pay ranges from $123 to $3,100 per month depending on your disability and the number of dependents. Additional amounts may be available for severe disabilities, if you have a spouse, children, dependent parents or if your spouse is seriously disabled.

Does the VA pay for my travel costs?

Yes, the VA will pay for your travel costs in the following circumstances:

  • Veterans travelling for a service-connected condition.
  • Veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 30% or greater.
  • Veterans receiving a VA Pension.
  • Veterans travelling for scheduled examinations.
  • Veterans whose income does not exceed the maximum VA pension rate.

No. VA disability benefits are not taxable.
